Celebrating: 'Job Shadow Day 2016'
This year saw record number of participating organisations throughout Ireland
Job Shadow Day 2016

The IASE Job Shadow Day 2016 took place nationwide on 27th April and we are celebrating another outstanding success. This year a record number of supported employment services in 25 counties registered to take part, including a considerable number of new services taking part for the first time.

We know from experience the hard work undertaken by each job coach, in each organisation, to talk to the employers and have them sign up for Job Shadow Day. We are truly appreciative of the support each one gives to this important day and know it could not happen without the great shared effort by all involved. We also recognise that each job coach involved seizes the opportunity of engaging with employers in the hope that the participants can be offered work experience and ultimately secure paid employment.

Now even more determined to achieve my dream
My Brown Thomas experience - Job Shadow Day in the spotlight
My experience of Job Shadow Day 2016

"I felt very welcome and relaxed all day which for me (as someone with a head injury) is really important. I have always had an ambition to work there someday, being in the MAC workplace environment in Brown Thomas, even if only for the day, has made me even more determined to work harder to achieve my dream of eventually working in MAC. I felt extremely grateful for the experience and couldn't have wished for a better workplace to attend." - Holly O’Dwyer

I felt I had made a difference on my Job Shadow Day
A great opportunity to be a spokesperson for all wheelchair users

Munster Rugby

"In advance of my Job Shadow with Munster Rugby in Cork I was asked to look up their Thomond Park website and see if, as a wheelchair user, I could find information about wheelchair access easily, suggest any improvements on wheelchair facilities. When I got there I met with Clare Rigney, the Patron Programme Executive, to discuss all the questions and suggestions I had compiled. I felt slightly nervous, but I went away after the day and felt like I had made difference, and could be a voice for all wheelchair users who attend sporting events." - Aoife O’Callaghan
