Carol Cullen, with company mentor, enjoying her Job Shadow at the Bank of America in Dublin
A big thanks to everyone that supported or took part in National Supported Employment Week / Job Shadow Initiative 2012 for making it such a resounding success! Thanks to the many hundreds and hundreds of people throughout the country that were a part of it, for their outstanding dedication, efforts and continued enthusiasm.
We hope that this year's Job Shadow has been a positive experience for everyone and above all the jobseekers, who had the opportunity to explore their work preferences and gain valuable new experiences.
We would also like to thank those that took part in the Job Shadow Initiative for the first time this year, amongst them; Taoiseach Enda Kenny shadowed by Cian O'Connor, Senator David Norris whom hosted Dean McKeever and Kathleen Lynch T.D. Minister for Disability, Equality & Mental Health being shadowed for the day by Darragh McFarlane & Stephanie Hughes. Minister Kathleen Lynch has always been a great supporter of the Job Shadow Inititiative since its inception & launch in 2007 and was excited to be shadowed for the first time.
At IASE we we're both delighted and overwhelmed at the extent of the positive coverage the event attracted this year in the national media; on radio, TV and in print (see the articles at http://www.iase.ie/pages/job_shadow/jsi_2012.html). The opportunity to raise the profile of Supported Employment, especially amongst employers not previously familiar with it, is invaluable and something we will continue to work towards.
